DeskStats is a desktop app that shows your PC's hardware readings (CPU, GPU, memory, storage, network and sensors) in widgets. This policy explains what information the app uses and where it goes. In short: DeskStats has no account, no analytics, no tracking and no ads. Your hardware readings never leave your PC.
To work, DeskStats reads information locally from Windows and your hardware. This information is shown on your screen and is not sent to us or anyone else:
DeskStats saves these files on your PC only, in %LocalAppData%\DeskStats:
hardware-report.txt — a list of the hardware and sensors detected on your PC. It is only shared if you choose to send it to us for support. You can delete this folder at any time. Uninstalling DeskStats keeps it so your settings survive a reinstall; delete it manually to remove everything.
DeskStats only connects to the internet for the features below, and only while you use them. No personal identifiers, hardware data or usage data are included in these requests.
| Feature | Service contacted | What is sent |
|---|---|---|
| Weather widget | Open-Meteo (open-meteo.com) — geocoding, forecast and air-quality APIs | The letters you type in the City box (to suggest matching places), and the chosen place's coordinates, to get the forecast and air quality. Not used if you don't add the Weather widget. |
| Public IP address (Network widget) | ipify (api.ipify.org) | A simple request that returns your public IP address so it can be shown in the widget. Not used if this option is turned off. |
| Sensor driver install (only when you click "Install sensor driver") | The bundled, verified PawnIO installer (no driver download needed in version 1.0.5) | The driver installer runs locally. DeskStats sends no hardware readings to the driver publisher. |
Like any internet request, these services can see your IP address while they answer. Their own privacy policies apply to those requests. DeskStats does not send them anything else.
DeskStats asks for administrator rights because Windows only allows hardware sensors (such as CPU temperature) to be read with them. The optional PawnIO driver is used for the same purpose. These rights are used only to read hardware sensors and to install that driver when you ask for it.
DeskStats does not knowingly collect any information from anyone, including children.
If this policy changes, the updated version will be published on this page with a new effective date.
